In a quiet corner of India stands a house unlike any other. Locals call it Hathiwalagharā"The House with the Elephant." To many, itās a landmark. To some, itās a mystery. But to me, Bijender Rana, itās homeāa dream built with love, tradition, and pride.
This blog is not about architecture alone. Itās about how a home becomes a symbol, how one statue can tell a thousand stories, and how Hathiwalaghar became what it is today.
Every home begins with a dream. Mine started with a simple desire: to build a place that would not only shelter my family but also stand as a reflection of our values and culture. I didn't want a generic house. I wanted something with a soulāsomething that spoke of strength, dignity, and peace.
Thatās when the idea of an elephant came to mind.
In Indian tradition, elephants symbolize power, wisdom, and good fortune. Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, is worshipped in every homeāand his elephant form is both protective and sacred. I decided that if my home was going to stand for something, an elephant statue at the entrance would be its voice.
Today, if you pass by my home, the first thing you'll notice is a beautiful, life-sized elephant statue standing guard at the gate. Itās more than decorationāitās a statement. Crafted with detail and precision, it has become a point of interest for many. Strangers stop to take photos, children look in awe, and neighbors refer to my home as Hathiwalaghar.
I never expected the elephant to become a local landmark, but Iām proud it did. It means people are noticing something I built with heart.
Inside Hathiwalaghar, every detail is deliberate. Cleanliness and hygiene are not just habitsāthey are part of our identity. Every surface is spotless, every corner is cared for. I believe that when a home is clean, the mind is calm and the energy is positive.
Regular sanitization
Clean air and natural ventilation
Organized living spaces
These arenāt luxuries; theyāre our lifestyle. In a world where dust and chaos creep in quickly, weāve made it our mission to keep Hathiwalaghar shiningāinside and out.
One of the highlights of Hathiwalaghar is the premium Italian flooring. It brings a sense of modern luxury to the traditional design. Smooth, reflective, easy to clean, and durable, it adds sophistication to every room.
Why Italian flooring? Because quality matters. A home isnāt just about wallsāitās about the details under your feet and around your eyes. When someone walks into Hathiwalaghar, the floor beneath them tells a story of care and elegance.
Surrounding Hathiwalaghar is something you wonāt find in most modern homesāastonishing greenery. From flowering plants to shade-giving trees, the garden here is a living being in itself. I personally tend to the plants, water them, trim them, and make sure they thrive.
We donāt just grow plantsāwe live with them. They offer:
Fresh air
Natural beauty
A cooling effect in summer
Birds and butterflies that bring joy
In every season, Hathiwalaghar blooms with life. The garden is as important as the house itself, because nature completes the home.
People often ask if they can visit, shoot videos, or host events at Hathiwalaghar. I take that as a compliment. But it's important to know: this is a private residence. We donāt rent it out, nor do we host public functions. Itās our sacred spaceāour familyās sanctuary.
That said, we welcome curiosity. Through this website and this blog, I want to share our journey, our philosophy, and what Hathiwalaghar stands for. Not as a venue, but as a source of inspiration for others building their own dream homes.
After living here and building this dream, here are a few things Iāve learnedālessons that go beyond bricks and paint:
Choose something meaningful to represent your home. For me, it was an elephant. For you, it could be a tree, a diya, or a peacock. Let your home say something.
A clean house isnāt built by one-time efforts. Itās maintained by daily habits, respect for space, and pride in your environment.
Our Italian flooring pairs beautifully with our traditional layout. Thereās no rule that says you must pick one over the other.
No amount of luxury can replace the beauty of a green garden. Plants are peace-givers. Invest in them.
So why create Hathiwalaghar.com? Because I wanted to tell our story before others guessed it. The house was attracting attention, and I felt it deserved a digital identity. A place where people could learn:
What Hathiwalaghar means
Why the elephant statue is special
How a home can be both personal and powerful
This site is a tribute to all those who believe that a house is more than a structureāitās a soul.
If my story touched you, inspired you, or simply made you curious, Iād love to hear from you. Whether youāre a homebuilder, blogger, photographer, or just someone who appreciates meaningful architecture, feel free to reach out.
